Review:

This Raging Light was a spectacular book.ย It was real, romantic, heartbreaking yet heartwarming at the same time, with characters that capture your heart, and a gorgeously written story that is unique and moving and beautiful.

Lucille is thrown into the adult world when her mother leaves her on her own with her younger sister, Wren.ย She finds herself struggling to take Wren to school and going to school herself, while working tirelessly most nights to pay for bills and food. All the while, there is the fear that someone might find out that they are living on their own, that they could be separated. Lucille tries her very best to take care of her sister, and to keep them together and her best friend, Eden agrees to help.

I loved Eden’s character at the beginning of the book – she was intelligent and supportive and I loved how she had a quote for everything. I honestly thought she might become one of my favourite characters, but sometime in the middle of the book, I just felt sort of…let down by her. ย I had a few problems, but, despite the times that I thought I would fall out with her character, I still like her overall.

And then there is Digby, Eden’s brother, who offers support and help to Lucille – And Lucille falls in love with him. I wasn’t entirely sure about this relationship to begin with – I could see quite a few problems-, but despite my concerns, I soon changed my mind. They were so sweet together and there were so many adorable moments between them!

The writing style was magnificent; Estelle Laure told the story beautifully. And Lucille is such a strong and admirable character who pushed past her fears to stand up to look after and provide for her sister; she puts Wren first. I loved how the book focused largely on the relationship between Lucille and Wren, how they were so close and took care of each other.

Rating: This Raging Light was wonderfully moving, and will stay with me for a long time. This is definitely one to look out for! ๐Ÿ™‚ย โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†
