Goodreads Monday_ 24_2_20

Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme hosted by Lauren’s Page Turners where you choose a random book from your Goodreads TBR to talk about.

This Week’s Book:

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

Lady Midnight

Synopsis:

It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses.

Together with her parabatai Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions…

Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother Mark—who was captured by the faeries five years ago—has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind—and they need the Shadowhunters’ help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?

Why I want to read it:

I can’t believe its been so long since I finished reading The Mortal Instruments! Lady Midnight was an instant addition to my tbr way back when I first heard it was going to be released, but I still haven’t gotten around to reading it. Maybe I should make 2020 the year I catch up on all the Shadowhunter books — I miss being excited about them and I’ve heard such great things about the new books!

Have you read this? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I’m currently in the middle of a reread of The Infernal Devices (just finished Clockwork Prince) in preparation of Chain of Gold. It’s my fourth rereading and I still love it. It’s by far my favorite of the Shadowhunter series, but I did love The Dark Artifices, too! Maybe even more than The Mortal Instruments…I’m not sure. They’re a close second. Ha! I hope you get to dive back in soon. 🙂

  2. I hadn’t read anything by Cassandra Clare before this one but I really enjoyed it! I haven’t finished the series because I really suck at doing that apparently but I’m looking forward to it. Hope you enjoy it 🙂
