10 Books I Meant to Read in 2020 But Didn’t Get To

Top Ten Tuesday was created by  The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week they suggest a new theme for bloggers to write about. This week’s topic was ‘books I meant to read in 2020 but didn’t get to.’

Mexican Gothic was on my Autumn 2020 tbr, and I’m so disappointed I never got to it! I’m determined to pick it up soon, which in bookish terms could be anywhere from tomorrow to December. But still! I will read this book in 2021.

I had planned to read and review The Betrayals close to the release date, but never quite managed to get to it! In my defence, I didn’t read a single page of any book for the last two months of 2020.

I was sure that I was going to be able to cram this book in before the end of the year, but I’ve still yet to actually get a copy to read!

Piranesi was another book on my Autumn 2020 TBR. I’ve heard great things about it, so I’m still really excited to pick it up.

The Empire of Gold is the final book in the Daevabad Trilogy and I’m not ready for it to end! I’d hoped to reread book 1 and 2 before I read this but didn’t manage it, so I used that as a reason to put off the ending.

I really enjoyed Aurora Rising, and was really excited for Aurora Burning to come out, but its still sitting on my bookshelf.

The Midnight Lie has been so hyped on Book Twitter since it came out, and that has made me 10x more excited to read it because I have FOMO. Soon.

Where Dreams Descend was one of my most anticipated releases for the second half of 2020. I’m still hoping to pick it up asap.

Crier’s War has one of the most beautiful fantasy covers in YA, and I still very much NEED to read this book, but still don’t have it in my hands?! Rude.

The Priory of the Orange Tree is almost a fantasy staple now, I’ve seen so many people raving about it. I very much regret not picking it up in 2020, but I have every intention of jumping in this year (someone hold me to that).

  1. I haven’t read any of these yet, but I’ve heard great things about Mexican Gothic and The Priory of the Orange Tree! Happy reading!

  2. Oh, Aurora Burning would be on my list as well, had I made one. I kinda feel bad about it because I was looking forward to it but also, why rush? I think I’m gonna do a buddy read with that one as soon as my buddy has read the first book. 😉
I have seen The Midnight lie around but I don’t know if I wanna read it. I mean, it looks good, sounds good but I really need to read the books on my enormous tbr and should not add to it…
