WWW Wednesday is a meme that was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and is now hosted at Taking on a World of Words. The three Ws are: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What will you read next?
I finished The Five over the weekend, and I really enjoyed this book. It was so interesting to read about the lives of the women who were killed by Jack the Ripper — everyone knows the name of their killer, but I’ve barely heard anyone talk about them. It was really refreshing to read about this case without any focus on the killer whatsoever — there’s no speculation on who he is, no repeating the gory details of the murders. The women are solely defined by the facts that Rubenhold could gather about them, and she manages to piece together a vivid image of these five women’s lives without the judgement of the Victorian era.
I took a few days from reading after finishing The Five, but I’m hoping to start Raybearer today. I’m really excited to get stuck into this one, I’ve heard such great things!
I was approved to read this on Netgalley on Monday, so of course I had to add The Betrayals to this week’s tbr! I can’t wait to pick this up.
❤
What about you? What are you currently reading/ planning on reading?
Raybearer has such a gorgeous cover! Hope you enjoy it 🙂 I have had the Five on my TBR since reading a different book by Deanna Raybourn that references the victims, but haven’t gotten to it. Sounds amazing!

Oh, I have to read The Five for a Book Bingo I’m doing, so very glad to hear that it’s good! I like what you’ve said about it here, too – that the focus is entirely on the women.
